Chinese Sponsors in 2018 World Cup

· China Trends

The World Cup may have finished but its influence lingers. Have you noticed something during the 2018 Russia World Cup? There is a significant amount of Chinese sponsors. More than ever before! In total, there seven Chinese companies that have sponsored the World Cup, spending 835 million US dollars, more than two times of that of American (400 million), and far far more than Russia (64 million).

Why? Why are there so many Chinese companies sponsoring the World Cup this year? Many people point out that it is because China has great relationship with Russia, so China has gotten more brands in this time! Well, although it is true that China and Russia share strategic relations and it may be part of the reason, it is not the most significant reason.
